These pale pink treats start with strawberries and plain dairy ingredients. Blending gives a smoother result than stirring in large fruit chunks. Small molds let you take out a single piece while leaving the rest frozen for another day.

Wash the berries and remove the leafy tops before measuring. Choose plain, unsweetened dairy products and check every label for xylitol rather than assuming a product is suitable because it says “natural.”

Ingredients

• 1 cup strawberries
• 1/2 cup plain unsweetened Greek yogurt (plain and unsweetened)
• 1/2 cup cottage cheese
• 4 tablespoons kefir, plain (optional)

Method

1. Blend the prepared strawberries, yogurt and cottage cheese. Include plain kefir only if using the optional ingredient.
2. Fill small silicone molds and place them flat in the freezer.
3. Freeze until solid, allowing about four hours or longer. Soften a portion before offering it; keep the rest frozen.

How should I serve it?

Offer a small, manageable portion under supervision. Treats and toppers supplement regular food; they do not replace a complete diet. Ask your veterinarian before introducing this recipe if your dog has food allergies, a medical condition or a prescribed diet.
